About Us

2021 Discover Jazz Festival, Burlington, VT

Green Mountain Swing is an all-volunteer, 18-piece big band.  We play music from the swing era, when swing was king, as in the immortal bands of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and others.  We also include music from the “bop” and “post bop” periods which followed and throw into the mix many modern tunes and music from the Latin field.  Here’s our Repertoire.  You can also listen to several recent recordings.

Our gigs include music festivals, craft fairs, dances, weddings, reunions, and other social gatherings.  Please join us!  We hope you also consider booking us for your event.

All net proceeds of Green Mountain Swing are dedicated to a scholarship fund for young musicians in Central Vermont, helping them with expenses for private lessons, workshops, and music camps.  The Green Mountain Swing Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and accepts donations.

As well as supporting the Scholarship Fund, our playing provides us with the opportunity to continue to grow as musicians and, in the jazz tradition, to mentor the next generation.  Band members range from their teens to their 80’s.
